This week I finished a 3 month training plan devised by Ashley Horner (she is a WBFF pro/triathlete/super woman) called ‘Becoming Extraordinary’. In the words of Ashley, the plan consists of (respectfully taken from her website to do it full justice):
This 12 week program is for you if you’re looking for overall muscle tone and weight loss. The training schedule takes you through 3 days on 1 day off depending on the phase you are on. You will find Crossfit style workouts, HIIT sessions, circuit style training and even bodyweight strength and conditioning. The workouts will take anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on the phase you are in. Becoming Extraordinary program comes with 12 week meal plan that takes you through several phases and teaches you how to balance your cravings and eating healthier with your lifestyle.
I have loved every single training session (even though legs day and the Crossfit style WOD sessions make me want to hurl due to the intensity) and despite having to take a couple of weeks out due to running injuries which slowed my progress a bit I am happy with the results. Infact, I would say that I have seen more progress from Ashley’s plan than any other 3 month (and even longer) training plan I have embarked on. In addition to the training I also got to meet an incredible group of women and guys online who are also following Ashley’s various training plans and they inspire and motivate me every day with their hard work, dedication & positivity. I have been so happy with the results that I have decided to redo BE and this time I will make everything supersets and giant sets to push myself a bit harder and will also need to crack down on my nutrition and make sure there is less cheating!
I also had my third biosignature assessment this week which showed another drop in body fat (woohoo!) and so I am now down to 20.5% which has equated to a steady decrease of 1% a month whilst doing BE. This has made me very happy because I used to train a lot so I could eat what I wanted but my body composition barely changed. So for this year whilst training for Tough Mudder I decided that I needed to change my mindset and so now I eat to fuel my training sessions and BE has further cemented the importance of this.
I am aiming to reduce my body fat down to 15% whilst still developing muscle mass and plan to reach this by April of next year when it’s my birthday. I already have a holiday to New York booked up for April so that will end up being a strategic refeed week!
